An Idea About Linux

Linux is a Unix-like computer operating system. Linux is one of the most prominent examples of free software and open source development; typically all underlying source code can be freely modified, used, and redistributed by anyone.

The Linux kernel was first released to the public on 17 September 1991, for the Intel x86 PC architecture. The kernel was augmented with system utilities and libraries from the GNU project to create a usable operating system, which led to an alternative term, GNU/Linux. Linux is packaged for different uses in Linux distributions, which contain the sometimes modified kernel along with a variety of other software packages tailored to different requirements.

Predominantly known for its use in servers, Linux is supported by corporations such as Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Novell, Oracle Corporation, Red Hat, and Sun Microsystems. It is used as an operating system for a wide variety of computer hardware, including desktop computers, supercomputers, video game systems, such as PlayStation 2, 3, several arcade games, and embedded devices, such as mobile phones and routers.

Business Process Outsourcing Markets and Clients

It is evident that business process outsourcing or BPO is one of the more prominent industries now in the Philippines. The country is fast becoming both a regional and global docking point for most shared corporate back office operations, with particular emphasis on financial services. However, there is also a great demand for the various services in the fields of facilities and real estate management, human resources and information technology. Non-core business functions are now being channeled as well, and these can come in the forms of call center and / or customer support functions like: customer services, manufacturing and engineering, market research and telemarketing.
Financial Tasks
There are many back-office tasks that are now routinely being delegated to over 620 BPO operators in the Philippines; and as earlier stated, a great majority of them concerns accounting, bookkeeping, logistics and some other areas within the financial department.
Some of the usual tasks assigned include: account maintenance; accounts payable administration; accounts receivable collection; accounting; asset management; auditing; basic and more specified bookkeeping; expense and revenue reporting; financial analysis; financial reporting; payroll processing and tax-reporting.
Other BPO operators even specializes in such finance-related services like cargo shipment management; credit card administration; factoring and stock brokering; financial leasing; inventory control and purchasing; logistics management, and management consulting.
Manpower and Location
Literally, many clients subscribe to outsourcing services in the Philippines because of its rich pool of talents. BPO operators are continually hiring and training college graduates to fill in the demand for English and IT proficient representatives. Many of these are degree holders in Accounting, Business Administration, English, Engineering, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Information Technology, Management, Math, etc. In the 2001 World Competitiveness Report, it shows that the Philippines emerged in the 16th place in a list of 49 countries under the heading of International Business Experience.
In addition, due to the low cost of living expenses in the Philippines, BPO operators can afford to guarantee their clients quality work at very much reduced rates.
Other factors that make outsourcing in the Philippines one of the most attractive options is the fact that its manpower: has high superior work ethics; has a high degree of loyalty, trainability, flexibility, multicultural adaptability; and is very much marked for their customer service orientation.
The Philippines is also a great location for many BPO operators; this fact in turn translates to being a benefit for its clientage. There are a number of prime yet low-cost real estate in the country. In addition to that, there is also an increasing number of cost-competitive telecommunications and transportation infrastructure available to various outsourcing companies.

Horse Racing in Progress

With the advent of technology comes the evolution of horse racing protocols. Telephones, telegraphs and radios became essential tools in “broadcasting” the actual race through the wires. Back then, this technology had already enabled some entrepreneurial minded players to establish off-track betting stations. Bookies became mobile, often setting up shop where radios were accessible. Certainty about the outcomes of the races could be immediately established even if the players were not physically present or anywhere near the race tracks. Other impertinent information was also sent through the wires like the horses’ pedigree, trainers, owners, last races’ performances, handicap details, etc – encouraging players to develop many types of wagering systems.

Moving to Linux

Kanati Inc. now embracing the idea of opensource, but for not techie geek like some of Kanati's employees here, moving to linux used to be a big deal. Contrary for techie guru here said it was cheaper, more reliable, and more flexible. HP, IBM, Novell and Sun Microsystems -- has dispensed with that fear. Supported by integrators and buoyed by ever-improving technology, all kinds of organisations are happily using Linux for a range of mission-critical services.

Of course, there will always be certain applications that just aren't available on Linux: for example, or graphics-intensive tools are likely to prefer Windows. It's important to work out a strategy for keeping the two environments working in synch -- for example, keeping your data in a separate environment, such as a storage area network, neutral file server or platform-agnostic database, which is equally accessible from all platforms.

Linux is no longer unsupportable. It's probably premature for most companies to slowly cut their ties with Windows but lets see what are the benefits of using linux and beside there's no license fee at all.

Free Horse Racing Tips

It should be noted that there are free horse gambling tips, and then there are free horse gambling tips. Seasoned players know when they see a good tip. Nonetheless, here are a few general tips that would hopefully increase your handicapping skills. Place your money on the favorite, for a 33% of a win. Research: an uninformed bet is a good as a wasted bet. Check backgrounds of horses, jockeys and trainers.

Place your money where everyone’s heart is – the favorite runner in any race usually becomes the favored contender for a reason. The favorite has the best odds among all other runners, and it is also the one that has the most money wagered upon. Statistics show that 33% of the time, the favorite wins the races “on the nose.”

If you can, you should check the horse racing program for a list of trainers and jockey standings. This racing program should include the number of wins a runner has as of the last race. The rule of thumb is that the highest ranked riders generally ride the best horses, and the best trainers usually have the highest win percentage. If you take that into account, you as the player may also increase your win-frequency.

Researching also involves learning all about the horses. Don’t bet on a horse simply because you like its name or color. One thing you must learn is that how experienced the horse is. It is not unusual to find that some horses do not go on their winning streaks until several races later. For graded stakes races, you may not want to place a thick bankroll on any horse that has never run the course before.

Ealiest days of Horse Racing

In the earliest days of horse racing, the only way to know (with all certainty) which horse has won the game or whether the individual's gamble has paid off was to be physically there at the race tracks and to see the outcome of the race for himself; or at the very least, wait until the papers the next day announce the winners of the events. A player was needed to be physically present when bookies collected wagers and if the event of a winning ticket, bookies paid off dividends right at the race track too. If an individual was not there during pay-offs, chances were that he had to wave his money goodbye. Betting off track was literally unheard off then.

Betting Exchange

Well I have no idea of any form of gambling, aside from tong-its, not until with Kanati Inc, my recent company, I learned the pari-mutuel gambling, this actually used in horse racing, grey hound racing and harness racing. They actually did the betting online.
Now my boss is going to tail the betting exchange, as I found out in wikipedia, “A betting exchange is a peer-to-peer gambling website acting as a broker between parties for the placement of bets. The concept is similar to that of a stock exchange or a futures exchange, where in this case the commodity being traded is a bet, rather than a stock or futures contract. Most betting on a betting exchange has been a form of fixed odds gambling.”. Another form of gambling though. According to my boss, probably early next year they will launch that project and hope it will be successful.

What is J2EE?

J2EE stands for Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition, a programming language developed by Sun Microsystems. The Java Platform is a virtual machine, a processor look-alike that translates computerized instructions into functions.
Java language allows cross-platform communication between various kinds of devices. Java portability “WORA” means Write once run anywhere, well for example if programmers develop code on a desktop PC expects it to run even on mobile phones as long as the device is java-enabled. Now you can see that many electronic devices operate using java platforms.
Enterprise Edition, on the other hand is a powerful form of the Java Platform. Sun has created three editions so far, the J2EE, J2ME (pda’s) and J2SE (mobile, laptops and desktop). J2EE is available for free; it can easily download from the Sun Microsystems website.

Little information about betting exchange

Do you know that the concept of betting exchange is almost similar to Stock exchange? The only difference between the two is the commodity being traded. On betting exchange you exchange bet while on stock exchange you exchange stocks. A gambling website act as a broker between parties for the placement of bets, most betting on a betting exchange has been a form of fixed odds gambling.

Trivia about Thoroughbred Racing

It all started when English Knights returned from crusades with swift Arab horses. High endurance and speedy horses were products of bred English mares and Arab horses.
During the reign of Queen Anne, horse racing became a professional sport and a public obsession. Elites, nobles and riches gather all together in a racecourse to watch races and wager. During that time, horse racing, horse breeding and horse owning were very profitable. With the rapid expansion of the sport arises the need for a central governing authority. Since 1814, five races for three-year-old horses have been designated as "classics." Three races, open to male horses (colts) and female horses (fillies), make up the English Triple Crown: the Two Thousand Guineas Stakes, run over one mile at Newmarket Racecourse in Newmarket, Suffolk, the Epsom Derby, run over one and a half miles at Epsom Downs Racecourse in Epsom, Surrey; the St. Leger Stakes, run over one mile, six furlongs and 132 yards at Town Moor in Doncaster, Yorkshire.
During early 1800’s, the only thoroughbred that allow to race were those listed in the General Stud book. A thoroughbred horse race meant racing between thoroughbreds whose pedigree is verified and can be traced back to the three original stallions. These stallions were the Byerley Turk, foaled c.1679; the Darley Arabian, foaled c.1700; and the Godolphin Arabian, foaled c.1724.

What if the old school minded like me or those old fashion people are not really interested in those techie things. It doest necessary means that they can not afford those hi-tech gadget or even a desktop, yet they are not in touch with those new school. They just need to know how to manipulate the MS Word coz it will be helpful for them rather than using a typrwriter. They still fascinated with family computer playing tekken, street fighter or Mario Brothers. Compare to those new school who plays ragnarok, or any virtual game stuff, what ever it is latest video games in PC. Some are still prefer snail mail, or talking on the phone to communicate, some are just know how to compose an email at send it and just know how to read mails on their inbox, unlike other techie people who are internet savvy who spend their time surfin the internet. Probably there some who still have msdos, haha!!and lotus as well !!!they prefer to be stock in this oldschool software, there are reasons,,,whatever it is…it’s their choice. They don’t have an idea or they don’t want to know about Linux, My SQL, PHP, Java and Vista, what is an Operating system!!?? It sounds tedious to those computer idiots who still prefer the oldschool. They might still be using cds or cassette to hear their favorite songs, some of them just switch to mp3, but they still on the process to know how to burn songs to cd,haha!!!whatever they will ask their friend to down load songs from limewire, coz what the hell they know about that?!!!
A vintage lover who works in a Software and IT Management Company but I still love the old school but definitely I am not a programmer.
